CE marking is a mandatory requirement for nearly all the products that enter the EU marketplace. While CE marking involves set procedures as per the legislation that manufacturers and sellers have to comply with to get the marking, US product compliance, the applicable Federal Agency determines the steps a product must undergo for compliance. Additionally, in CE marking, standards are not mandatory. On the other hand, standards can be mandatory in US product compliance. Nonetheless, CE marking in the EU allows for harmonizing of laws across member states. This is contrary to USA product compliance where the state laws and regulations enacted tend to be stringent.
