To open a business bank account in the Netherlands, you need an International Bank Account Number (IBAN). If the account is within the Single Euro Payments Area, you do not need to create a new one. However, if it is not, you do. As an entrepreneur outside SEPA, your application will go through a series of processes by local banks. These processes are subject to legislation and separate acceptance policies run by banks. To reduce the time that this may take, you could register with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce and apply for a residence permit. Doing this will make you eligible to use the Quick Scan Dutch Business Bank Account developed by the Dutch Banking Association. Under this method, a team of four banks will collaborate to determine if you can open a business account.
Separating your business account from your private one will save you a lot of time and earn you business recognition. When you mix finances from both ends, your account manager may have a difficult time distinguishing the two. Some banks may also flag your private account when they discover business transactions.
